What’s your background?

We lived in New York City for 10 years and decided to hit the road a year and a half ago. Bart worked in advertising operations and Kathleen worked in advertising sales before we kicked of our travels. We loved our life in NYC; the sights and sounds of the city, our friends and family. But our desire to travel won us over and it was the best decision we ever made.

How long have you been working remote and what are you currently working on?

We have been working remotely and traveling full time for a year and half. Bart runs a digital media consulting business called 360ops and a startup called MyFBAPrep focused on Amazon sellers. Kathleen is a sales consultant for media publishers.

What’s the most challenging part of full time traveling as a couple?

The most challenging aspect of traveling is all the logistics; from choosing cities to finding Airbnbs, booking flights, making sure we have reliable WIFI and finding key services such as a gym and supermarket. Traveling as a couple can add an additional layer of complexity; we sometimes spend 24 hours a day together! As cheesy as it sounds, it hasn’t been too challenging. Travel days can be stressful with getting from point A to point B with our luggage while navigating a new city, language and currency so it’s important to have patience and not let a few unexpected hiccups ruin your day. Traveling as a couple has so many benefits since we have so much more to talk about; the new adventure we just had, the new people we just met and the new cultures and countries that surround us.

Why do you think Tenerife and the Canary island is a good destination for digital nomads?

Weather? Check. WIFI? Check. Culture? Check. Interesting terrain and lots to do? Check! We’ve loved going on a quick hike or a trip to the beach before we hunker down in the workspace for the day. We can definitely see how Tenerife is a ‘must visit’ for digital nomads.

What is your favorite thing about Nine Coliving?

The people have been amazing. Everyone is fun, interesting and super kind. The house is clean, homey and inviting. The view from the rooftop is incredible and we have really enjoyed the weekly Sunday night BBQs!
