Corazones de Tejina (Tejina’s Hearts)

The Hearts of Tejina are three spectacular and colorful handcrafted banners, some reaching up to 12 meters in height, made from fruit, flowers, and flour cakes. Each August, the residents of Arriba, Abajo, and El Pico streets proudly create these banners for the San Bartolomé festivities. These enormous structures, weighing nearly a ton, are carried on shoulders in the town square amidst friendly neighborhood rivalry. The celebration culminates with the traditional "descuelgue," where the hearts are dismantled and the fruit is distributed among the attendees.
