Why are you based on the north of Tenerife  in stead of the south?

We love the north side of the island because this is where the locals live. The south of the island basically didn't exist 20 years ago, because there was only dessert. The Canaries chose to live on the North side because the climate was better to actually grow something. Because of this, the north side is where you can find history and culture. Its rains a little more what results in a much greener landscape. Read more about why we chose the north of Tenerife on our blog.

How do I get to Nine from the airport?

First of all, it's good to know, that when it comes to public transport, Google Maps is incorrect a lot on this island. So when you look up busses, make sure to do so on the website of bus company Titsa

Tenerife has two airports, the South and the North airport. The easiest way to get to Nine is via the North Airport.

From the North Airport there are multiple busses going to La Orotava. When you enter the airport there is a big map with all the busses and their directions on. Busses directly to La Orotava are the 107 and 108. You can also take the 102 or the 343 to Puerto de la Cruz and transfer at the El Canario stop. From the main station in La Orotava it is a 8 min walk to Nine.

Busses you can take at El Canario to La Orotava are line 352, 345 and the 101. When you get of the bus at El Canario, cross to the busstop on the other side of the road.

From the North Airport you can also take a taxi. This takes 20 minutes and costs between 30 and 35 euro.

From the South Airport you take bus 343 to Puerto de la Cruz and then transfer at El Canario onto a bus to La Orotava bus station. The total ride takes about 1,5 hour. From La Orotava bus station it is a 8 min walk to Nine.

Busses you can take at El Canario to La Orotava are line 352, 345 and the 101. When you get of the bus at El Canario, cross to the busstop on the other side of the road.

Car rental. There are many car rental agencies at both North and South airport and also close to Nine Coliving. The cheapest car rentals can be found at the South Airport. They can be quite cheap, however, addition of optional insurance can make the cost much higher. Tip: Have travel insurance that covers car rentals so that you don't have to pay the additional costs at the rental agency.

Parking in the centre of La Orotava is free although finding a spot may be a few streets walking distance to Nine. You can find free and safe parking across from Tapasbar Tasca Villera de tapa en tapa.

Euro's. And did you know in Tenerife we only use a 7% tax? That means most things are even cheaper than mainland Spain!

What's the weather like in Tenerife?

Tenerife has good weather year round. It has a lot of micro climates so there is always a nice sunny beach within an hour drive. La Orotava is on the North side of the island, also called the wet side of the island. But don't let that scare you. Yes there might fall a more rain than on the south side, but we still have a very sunny climate. Usually there is about two weeks of heavy rainfall somewhere in Januari and Februari. Other than that we have dry summers and winters vary from sunny beach days to cloudy or rainy days. Read our blog for more info on the climate in Tenerife, also compared to the other Canarian islands.

What's the internet like at Nine?

Well of course we made sure that is the absolute best. It wasn't easy to get, but we have a 200 mb glass fiber connection throughout the entire house. So no worries.

Do I need a car?

A car can definitely be nice on the island, but you can also do without. The north side of the island has an excellent bus system (although not always on time) and taxi are not expensive. A taxi ride to beach town Puerto de la Cruz is 10 euros.
